Youth Development and Behavior
This badge is issued by the Massachusetts Library System and reflects competencies defined and validated through MLS’s statewide needs assessment, subject-matter review, instructional design standards, and program evaluation processes. This badge recognizes proficiency in meeting the competency: Applies knowledge of youth development and behavior to create supportive, engaging, and inclusive library experiences for youth. Learning outcomes: • Identify key developmental milestones of children across four stages of development. • Design programs, spaces, and services aligned with the developmental needs of youth. • Communicate responsive and youth-centered behavior expectations that foster a respectful, inclusive library environment. • Provide caregivers with resources to support their understanding of developmental milestones and foster youth growth.
Criteria
Earners of this badge have demonstrated proficiency in applying youth development and behavior concepts to create supportive, engaging, and inclusive library experiences for youth.
To earn this badge, learners achieved:
- 100% on all module quizzes (Modules 1–4)
- At least 81% (13/16) on the final assessment
- Completion of the post-course survey
- Users must complete the course"Youth Development and Behavior" with minimum grade of 30
